Hi there!
I need to submit a resume with my nursing school applications. Does anyone have any advice as to what all they are looking for? Is an objective necessary? Can it be more than 1 page? I have a resume and have been tweaking it a bit but would like to know what advice anyone has who has done this already. Thank you!

I had to submit a resume for my nursing school application and it took me FOREVER to be happy about it! I had a friend who had recently had to do the same, and she sent me hers as a frame of reference. I am a career changer and have been a stay-at-home mom for the past 3 years, so it took me a while to figure out what to do about format. I ended up doing a hybrid-type resume that was close to 2 full pages long. My sections were:
Summary of Qualifications- bullet statements about work ethic, personality traits that would be well suited towards nursing
Education and Training- including the community college where I'm finishing up pre-requisites
Professional Experience- stay-at-home mom and other jobs I've had
Military Experience- I spent 8 years in the Army and felt this needed it's own category, as I had a number of different jobs/duties that needed to be mentioned, but fell under one specific job and employer
Awards and Honors- military ribbons, school honors, etc
I know that a good resume can make or break an actual job application, but I don't know how much weight is put on a resume for nursing school. I hope that you figure out a good format for your situation!
