I'm a recent graduate and just passed the boards. I'm starting to apply to different hospitals in my area. I've prepared a resume and cover letter but would like to get some advice on how I can make them better. I put them on google docs in order to be viewed. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Resume:

Your resume looks fine to me, but then again I'm not an expert in resume writing. XD
With that being said here's a few tips. Again, I'm no expert.
I would spell out everything. RN, B.S. Nursing. Also at the end maybe rephrase the sentence Volunteer[ed to assist with organizing] a new children’s library at Pawtucket YMCA. Actually, with all of your activities I would probably make it more 'active.'
For example, you were the captain of a soccer team. What did you do as Captain that showed your leadership/ability to multitask etc? Everything you put on your resume should apply to the job you're applying for. List how your activities relate to your ability to be a better nurse...if that makes sense.
The only thing I would fix in the cover letter is this sentence:
As a recent graduate I have acquired extensive knowledge and skills that enable me [to] provide care to patients in each step of the care process.
Add the to. :)
Hope I helped a bit. Good luck. I hope you get the job. ^-^

I would rearrange it a bit to 1) make it easier to cut and paste into online application programs and 2) move up to the top the skills/experience that would make you stand out from every other grad
To do #1, get rid of the columns/tab spaces. Believe me, as you make online applications, you do not want to be spending all your time reformatting the cut/paste! Even with the link, some of your formatting has been lost. You don't want to create a resume layout that loses formatting, so simplify it as much as possible. For hard copies, you can use a bolding and a vertical format, rather than a combination of vertical and horizontal formatting (as it is now).
You can move up the "stand out" items to a section right under your objective titled "Experience Highlights." Items you could put under the heading:
--your Spanish and Portuguese fluency (YOU BURIED IT in your current resume!)
--short description of your nursing student associate position
--NHS leadership position
--organizing the children's library
You can include the above items again in the appropriate categories, i.e. where you have them now, but you really need to highlight them, too.
Do you have even more tranferable skills from your K-Mart job? The ones you have are great, but try to figure out one more.
Under your education section, you can include magna cum laude with your GPA.
You have some really good items on your resume! I think some reorganization would serve you well to get the important stuff up to the top.
Good luck!
this is all VERY helpful advice. thanks!!
