I have been offered an awesome opportunity to work as a nurse in a city where I have dreamed of living. I applied for a position 3 months ago and did not get it so, I ended up accepting a position in the unit where I was a nurse's aid for 2 years. But, now I have been reconsidered for a position and I was offered the job at the hospital where I originally wanted to work. I accepted enthusiastically. But now I don't know what to say to my current boss. I don't want to jump the gun, so I'm waiting to say anything until HR has all their requirements completed and I have the new state's RN license. What should I do? I am very excited for this new opportunity but nervous about resigning so early after the hospital has invested in me.
I will be working with oncology patients. Now that I have informed the hospital my preceptor is being very discouraging and telling me that bigger hospitals won't be as patient with me and that I will have to "grow a thicker skin." At first she made me doubt myself, but the more I think about it the more I realize how far I have come and that I am doing well now at the local hospital where I am working. I am certainly not perfect! But I learn from my mistakes and have a strong desire to succeed and I think that mentality will help me to do well at the bigger hospital. I am excited and nervous about the big move to a new city but, I hope to do well and to use the knowledge and experience I have had during orientation here help me at the new job.

I agree, if an opportunity comes you should grasp it! Let me tell you, I've been a nurse for 7 years, and I still have not landed my dream job, yep STILL, never was even called for an interview for my dream job.
I am curious though, what dept would you be leaving and what is your dream job? No judgement here, I am just nosy :)
