I would like to resign from my current full time position but remain at the same place doing just per diem work . How do I write a resignation letter ? Any advice would be helpful !

I'm not sure resignation would be the correct letter to write. How about a change of employment status...something along those lines? I would check with your HR department on the correct way to handle this change within your facility.

I totally agree with the previous post. You don't want to resign -- you want to change your status. Talk with your supervisor and/or HR department to find out what the correct process is in your institution.
Are there per diem positions available? Do you qualify for one of the per diem positions? etc. are the types of questions you should ask. Assuming such positions are available and that you qualify, then there is probably a piece of paper you need to fill out to request the change in your status -- or to transfer to a different department.

The wacky place I work does not really have a HR dept. They also do not have a change of status form . When I switched from per diem to full time before my pregnancy it was just an "I told so and so to put you for more hours" Very Very loose management around here .But I would like to use them as a reference someday soooo. Just trying to figure the best way to do this .

Can you go to TPTB and just ask for a reduction in hours? Surely they would approve that, since they probably need the staff.
