I've never heard of a resident care coordinator position. Did you receive a job description when you interviewed for the position? Have you interviewed for the position?
There's two things I could see this position doing:
1. Working with the residents while they are in the facility and coordinating with dietary, physical and occupational therapy, nursing and doctors to develop a plan of care for the resident that addresses all their needs.
2. Case management/discharge planning for the residents, which would require working with outside agencies and insurance to set up home care, prescriptions, delivery of supplies, getting approval for equipment to be used at home, etc.
I don't see direct patient care being a part of the position, if I'm understanding the role. I think you need to get a more complete job description (and the training involved) from the facility before you can make an informed decision about whether this is a job that would suit you.

I know this varies from facility to facility, but overall seems to be a manager type position. Since I am a recent grad and going into my first job, is this something that would be too overwhelming for me to start out with? Is there patient care involved?
I have worked in healthcare before - as an Administrative Assistant - I am a motivated and organized person and feel that I could handle a management type position yet I am not sure that this is the first LPN position I want right out of the gate - it is either this or doing Med Tech work. Obviously I am willing to be in health care in any capacity - I think there are learning experiences in both positions - just looking for some feedback from those that aren't so new to the field. Thanks!
