I am a new RN graduate who has worked in LT for a few years. I had an interview for a Resident Care coordinator and now they want me to job shadow, which I am doing tomorrow morning. Any suggestions, advice?? For those of you who are Resident Care coordinator, what do you like? dislike? Is your job challenging?
Thanks

I've been an RCM (resident care manager) which may be the same (responsible for the entire MDS process head to toe ...) anyway my biggest beef was the amount of patients per RCM is suppose to be in the area of 20 to 24 but the last place I worked it was 88. The management tried to get away with it saying the RNs filled out the MDSs. That didn't matter to me because I would still have to interview them for the sake of being accurate.
I don't know if this helps or if its even in the ballpark of what you're doing; if not others can take it for what it's worth.
They are also using the term RNAC which means RN assessment coordinator which is another term for RCM which means they're the team leader and end signer of the MDS. Also meaning they are responsible for everyone else getting their stuff done.
It's a heavy job with lots of responsibilities, not one for the shy. Thank goodness for computers; back in the day we had to write our assessments and care plans by hand. Good luck to you.
