Residency programs near Raleigh, NC

Is anyone familiar with the residency programs near Raleigh, NC? Wakemed got back to me, but Duke and UNC never responded. I will be graduating in December, I currently live in Utah. I may work here a little bit while I work on my bachelors, we are moving to NC next Summer. Ideally I'd like to get into an emergency department. How competitive are the programs? What at minimum should I have to be a competitive applicant? Are there any other facilities I should look at?

Don't be discouraged by the lack of response.  You may have submitted your application prematurely given your graduation/ relocation date.  Each facility posts new grad positions at different times.  Check their websites frequently, or sign up for new job listing alerts.

Look at where you want to live in the Raleigh area, determine your acceptable commute, then apply to every facility in the area.  UNC, Duke, and WakeMed have multiple campuses.  Be sure you're looking at all of them!

I live in Raleigh. I graduated May 17th and I'm in the Summer 2021 Duke Residency Program at Duke University Hospital. There are plenty of  new grad positions available here. As a matter of fact, some positions at the Duke Raleigh Hospital has a $15,000 bonus attached. Be patient. They are ALL hiring (Duke, UNC, & WakeMed). When I applied back in Jan, it took awhile to hear back. It's very competitive here, BUT there are PLENTY of positions available if you don't get your choice specialty/unit.

Thank you! That is encouraging. I will start applying in October so I'll keep that in mind.
