I am new to researching attending nursing school and i will probaby go for my BSN since I will be getting my Associates (business) next semester for a 2 year school, so i will probably move on to a 4 year afer that to take my nursing pre-req's.
Long story short can some please tell me what a LVN nurse it and what that stand for. I have heard of LPN and RN and understand the difference there but LVN is new to me so can someone please explain that for me?
Thank you very much!

LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse-Texas and California) and LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) are nurses who have an education level that is less than that of a four year degree or two year degree (RN). They do much of the same duties of an RN but are under the direction of the RN in the work setting. That is the short answer.
If you have the chance to obtain your BSN, then you should go that route. Many people become an LPN/LVN so that they can work in that capacity to pay for RN school or so that they can enter RN school under the LPN to RN bridge program.
Thanks for the info, that is what I had guessed but I wasnt sure. I will be getting my Associates in December (in business which I no longer want to do but I am glad I got the degree) but I did that almost all online excpet for 1 class at a local community college when i thought there was no way I could ever go to nursing school becasue of the intensity of the program and the fact that you cant work during the program. A series of unfornute events and bad decisions on my part (leaving a VERY high paying job for a better one that I hated and left thinking I could quickly find something else0 and then the economy and especially my industry tanked in this area so I am making nothing compared to what I used to so I figure that if I am making no maoney anyway to look on the bright side and ben thankful that I can now at least try nursing school which I have always wanted to do but couldnt becasue we needed my more than full time work income, no that is gone I will probably lose my house to get to go to nursing school but at lelast I will get to go and start over and I am sure that my house isnt worth what we owe anyway, just like everyone else right now. So I am looking at this as an oppertunity rather than misfortune.
Thanks for the info!
