Research Topic to teach my peers

Nursing Students Student Assist

Published

Hi Everyone,

I have been on this site for years but this is my first post. I would like some opinions, I have a teaching project to due for my novice to expert class (I have my ADN and am in my last year of my BSN). I currently work in home care. I was thinking of doing family prescence during CPR and invasive procedures. But I am not sure that I would really be teaching, I think it may be more of a research paper. I have been working peds home care for a year and a half, currently I have a child with SMA 1, maybe I could teach the nurses about aspects of the disease and s/s. If anyone has any ideas or guidance please let me know.

Thanks so much in advance :)

It wouldn't be a research paper unless you did actual research, meaning, you observed and studied in followup the families who were/were not present for CPR or invasive procedures.

There is actually a fair amount of work in the nursing literature about that, and I think it would make a fine presentation. So many nurses think they know the answer (that being, "Not in my ER/ICU/on my watch!"), but the research shows otherwise. Go for it. Ask your school librarian how to search the nursing literature database; your school may have a contract allowing you to use it for free.
