Hi everyone! I'm a member in this website for almost a month now. But this is my first time to try to post something here. I'm a student working on my research subject. Can I ask for Ideas on what topic I could do research for? I want a topic that can be accomplish for only a month or 2 beacause I run out of time now...our graduation will be these coming March. I want the research environment would be in our school zone or in the hospital where I afilliate. And the respondents would only be my co-nursing students and nurses in the hospital. I want topic that is a common problems of nursing students or staff nurses in the hospital.

I'm new here hope you can help me out...and I hope none will critisize my post...and for those who have nothing good to say please don't mind my post. I'm also very much hoping to the good samaritans out there.

Thank you.

Try to figure a topic that you are interested in. Some topics right away come to mind that might be of interest to a nursing student:

1. How the length of orientation for a new grad affect retention.

2. How self-scheduling affects nursing retention.

3. Certifications that new nurses need to complete to be effective on the job.

If you have a job waiting for you after graduation, try to make it more specific to that unit.

How about how confidence in your nursing action impacts your patients recovery time?

If they feel you are wishy washy or just plain scared, it effects their attitude and mood and outlook on potential recovery. Same goes with info and instruction to families.

If you stutter and shrug, they will most likely not trust any information you give, even though you are reading it to them from a book.

Confidence and honesty. I will tell someone I am unsure of a clear answer, but I certainly know where and how to research it, and it gives them the trust in your ability to admit doubt, but desire to learn and improve.

Same goes with MD's and how you are treated. I am an expert at treating people, and I respect their expertise at treating disease.

Just a thought.
