How does your site handle certifications?

Hi all!

My institution is forming a committee to encourage coordinators to get certified. Can anyone answer a few questions for me?

1. does your institution pay for the test and/or membership to ACRP or SOCRA?

2. does your institution offer any pay increase for becoming certified?

thank you!

My hospital pays for the exam -- and the fees for renewal. There are a few review courses offered for free, but you attend on your own time. And there is no pay increase for being certified. However, it does count towards moving a step up within the clinical advancement system.

Thanks! And, I love your Mulder quote!

I am not in research nursing per se, but my hospital is seeking Magnet. Therefore, it is currently incentivizing and encouraging nurses to become certified within their specialty in nursing. They are offering reimbursement for certification expenses if you pass the exam and offering education reimbursement for those who attend a class to take an exam. No increase in pay for certification currently. Plus, no reimbursement for joining professional organizations.

However, joining professional organizations is encouraged because of the discounts and opportunities for professional growth. On the other hand, union represented non-mangers are reimbursed for education for the CEUs while attending conferences and managers and non-union represented nurse leaders are reimbursed for everything if we present at a professional conference!
