Could I work as a nurse researcher as an Associates Degree level RN + SOCRA Cert.?

Is there any hope?

If not, would I be able to be hired with my BS or do you have to have a MSN now days?

Also, what if I have been published? My husband is a professor and we're working on a project right now that I will be 2nd author on. IF it is published! Would this, perhaps, give me a chance of being hired even with an AS degree?

Thank you so much for sharing. I'm really trying to find my way here and I appreciate it very much.

RN is RN, unless the site or investigator needs you to be active in the data analysis, lit review, or some other substantive area of the study. Not that you can't do that as an ADN, but a site would be looked at questionably if they had multiple pubs with an AD as a primary contributor. You may be listed in the pub, regardless of degree, if you work on the study(draw blood, vitals, start IVs, monitor infusions, etc..)- which is what most of us do.

So, yes, you may be hired. If you're in OK, feel free to give me a call.:D

Publication will help in establishing your experience, though I don't know that it will be of significant advantage- every bit helps, tho'!.

If you currently work for your husband's employer, or if your husband has some small grant funds available for "staff training", get your GCP/HRPP training, if you haven't already. We use CITI ( https://www.citiprogram.org/Default.asp? ) but if you call the IRB he's using, they can tell you who/where to go and if you can get it free(since you're a study staff member).

Any part-time research jobs out there? Thinking of getting certified but only want part-time work.

It depends on your region, as with anything. I would check local University job postings, then search "clinical research" in your on-line local yellow pages. PT is most generally grant-dependant, so you have to start job hunting again, as the grant nears its end.

I got hired as a research nurse with an associate's degree and no prior research experience. So it all depends on the situation and what they're looking for. I got the job because they really wanted someone with L&D experience.
