Research for MSN capstone project Workplace Bullying: The Affect on Working Relation

Hello everyone,

My name is Laura and I am collecting information for my capstone project at Western Governors University. The topic for information collecting is: Workplace Bullying: The Affect on Working Relationships and Patient Care.

INFORMED CONSENT

Introduction: You are invited to participate in a research project being conducted in an attempt to learn the nurse's perception of bullying in the workplace setting- past and present.

Description of the project: This research will explore and help identify the impact of workplace bullying and how it is may affect the nurses working on their specific units. This survey will ask questions concerning bullying against you or witnessed by you.

Benefits and Risks of this study: There is no risk involved. Participating in this research may benefit as workplace bullying awareness increases, thus allowing nurses to promote needed changes or strategies that will discourage unprofessional conduct in their specific work areas.

Confidentiality: As this study is totally confidential there is no need for concern regarding repercussion for providing honest answers. Be assured that as a participant in this study, your personal information will remain confidential. Your identity will never be disclosed in reports. The anonymous quantitative data contained in the research will be published.

Voluntary participation and withdrawal: Participation in this survey is voluntary. If you choose to participate it is expected that you complete the entire survey and to answer each question honestly. Non-participation incurs no penalties of any type. If you chose to participate in this research, you may withdraw at any time without penalty.
