Research Internship

Published

Hello,

I am currently a junior in a BSN program with plans to become an NP in the future. I am very interested in the emergency and trauma aspect of nursing. I came across a summer neurophysiology internship application that focuses on intraoperative monitoring in a trauma unit. The internship opportunity would involve clinical experiences, lectures and training (similar to CNIM principles). It is open to students majoring in neuroscience, kinesiology, biology or a related field. This topic seems very interesting to me, but I was wondering if it would not be focused enough on 'nursing' or for nursing students. Would I be better off just working as a nursing assistant or would this opportunity still be beneficial to my professional development?

I appreciate any thoughts on the matter :) thanks!

Is there a lead over the program you could talk to about the actual material? I think from what you said it would be interesting, and beneficial, even if not driven from a "nursing standpoint". If Neuro is something you really could see yourself in, I would ask!
