I started a research class this week. It's required or I would skip it. It doesn't seem that bad, and our final project is picking a topic we'd like to research... I'd just rather be focusing on patient care type classes.
Basically, I have no idea if it's relevant to nursing practice, I'm curious too!
Research is a critical class, especially if you intend to pursue post-graduate education.
I enjoyed my class. I learned to critically read and critique research studies and determine
if they were/were not relevant to practice. I also learned to write papers (we had to
write a 20-25 page review of lit. paper using 15 sources). It was a lot of work, but
definitely a worthwhile class.
Research is the heart and soul of evidence based practice. There is much much more to nursing
than just learning the technical bedside skills.
Best,
Diane
That scares me! That's a big ol paper! I have Nursing Research first semester... I guess I better prepare myself now!
You'll be fine. Just make sure not to put if off for too long.
And you'll be surprised how fast you will get it done, just by working on it
a little at a time. Especially if you have a topic that really interests you.
We had our research class the last semester of our junior year.
Maybe yours won't be too bad.
