I am going to enroll into E.C. , I am a LPN, I am very confused about the 30 gen. credits. Does E.C. offer these courses?

I have been looking all over their website and just cannot find then and the cost of them, if offered.

Any and all help appreciated.

Hi Tina,

EC does have some exams of their own that gain credits necessary for the gen eds. I believe they have gerontology that counts for sociology and they have the english comp. They have A&P and micro as well. I am really unsure of what others they offer. I think the prices vary...most gen eds are under $120.00 (for courses like lifespan), but the english i hear is about $200.00. You can also gain the gen eds through clep and dantes tests taken at a local college. The fees for these tests are about $65.00. I took all of my generals at a traditional local community college so I am really unfamiliar about the exact price list, but I do know that you can complete all of your generals through EC exams, clep, and dantes exams. EC recognizes and accepts these various methods in obtaining credit. They also accept traditional college credit...granted that it meets their criteria (for example if you take anatomy & physiology it must be a seperate course from your PN program and cover all of the body systems). EC offers A&P it is a 6 credit exam but does not have a lab componet--you should check with your state BON to see if they require lab componets for micro and A&P--some states do require this. I personally think I gained more hands on taking the CC route and getting the hands on with the lab--but then again I like labs--micro is very interesting viewing different specimens and staining with the various methods of stains. Hope this helps some!

Where you earn the credits is up to you. They will help you once you are enrolled. As the previous poster mentioned EC has their own tests that you can take. These are called equivalency exams. There are other exams besides EC and CLEP is the most well known. You can also take regular classes at the community college closest to you or take online classes at hundreds of colleges that offer them. Good luck.
