Renter's Insurance While Traveling

I tried adding renter's insurance to my Progressive policy today, but, because I won't be staying at my home base all the time, it will only cover 10% or $1,000. I am renting a room during my first assignment (and hopefully each subsequent one). Do any travelers have any suggestions? Thanks!

Don't know what you are taking with you but don't know why you would need insurance on much. Are you leaving a lot of furnature in a rented apartment? What is the deductable on your policy. For me I'd rather pay less in insurance premium and have a higher deductable. Don't use the insurance for the day to day, "dropped my phone in the toilet" stuff. Figure if I'm doing something like that I should have to pay for it. Just my opinion though.

Renters insurance is a good enough plan. I was paying about 42.00/year.

Covered clothing/linens, electronics, furniture. It's just for catastrophic events like fire. I ALWAYS go with an insurer that is A++ and ask for a policy that offers full replacement value. None of that depreciation s#!t. I need my stuff...

Small price to pay for piece of mind... you never know when the meth-head next door is going to burn the place down.

MOST insurance agencies will only provide full coverage for belongings at your primary address. As a traveler, I am often not there. So, I am asking if anyone can recommend a SPECIFIC company that provides full coverage regardles sof where you are. I hope this clarifies my question. While I will not be traveling with expensive items, I WILL have my laptop and I'd liek to make sure it is covered.

Don’t know of a company, but cost may be an issue. Especially for a laptop..
