I have recently started a new post as an Advanced Practitioner for Nephrology. I am interested in devising a pathway for interventional procedures eg fistulaplasty, angiojet etc. Has anybody got a particular interest or been involved in pathways. Thanks

Congrats on your new job! I'm a nephrology APN also. I work in a large (17 MDs, 6 mid-levels) nephrology practice. We actually have two surgeons in our practice and have our own intervention center. We don't use regular pathways (like in nursing), just practice guidelines that have been developed by our surgeons.
We also consider:
1. Access flow rates
2. Bleeding times
3. When the access was placed (how many years)
4. Does the pt use buttonholes
5. Pressures as measured on the machine
6. Compliance of the pt
Is this what you are looking for?
thanks for your reply. i was thinking more of a pre clerking document, like for surgical procedures but adapt it for interventions.
Listing the blood tests etc that is needed pre procedure. Your practice guidelines sound interesting, who designed them?
Our physicians have done this in relation to what the hospitals usually do.
