Relocating NH LPN to FLA?

Published

Can someone please clarify for me what is the procedure in Florida for lincensing? I will be a LPN in New Hampshire June 2010 and plan to work up here to save money for not more than a year and relocate to either Broward County or Sarasota County. I've been told that you have to apparently reside in Florida for 3 months before you can acquire a license. This was someone who is an LNA.

No, there's no residency requirement. You just have to pay a bunch of outrageous fees and do the CEUs. It's really quite simple and straightforward. See the BON website for all the info. Just be aware that right now, there's not many jobs to be had for any new nurses, LPN or RN. I hope it's turned around by the time you decide to come.

Thank you for clearing this up for me. If you don't mind may I ask the area of where you reside to get an idea of the employment issue for nurses? Is this just an issue for new grads?

I'm in Jacksonville. Take a look at some of the posts in this forum. It's not just an issue for new grads, even experienced nurses are having trouble, although it's not quite as bad.
