Relocating for Job - Interview process?

Published

Hello. I'm a new grad working in med-surg. I'm planning on switching specialities sometime this summer once I have a year of experience (hopefully ER or ICU). I am also interested in possibly relocating.

To those of you who have relocated for a job, how was the job application process? Did you have to travel for an in-person interview? Were you able to do phone interviews? Were you able to complete the process while still working?

My concern is that when I'm applying to multiple states that I will not have the time/money to travel to each state for an interview (especially while working). Thanks!

I would try to transfer within my hospital first. Then I would ask for a phone interview if I were considering moving away. When I moved for a job, I got a phone interview.
