Relocating to Hawaii*need advise on shipping

Published

I am relocating to Hawaii in a month and a half, I am currently in Ontario, Canada. Does anybody have a shipping company they have used to ship thier cars and household stuff?

Seems like it's better to ship than purchase a car and household items as they take time and are quite expensive.

Live in Honolulu now and off the top of my head Matson's and Horizon lines ships cars and other items. Don't know much else, becuase I've been lucky enough not to have that much stuff to take and back and forth everytime I move.

Aloha & welcome to Hawaii.

From what I hear- had a friend ship a car from South Carolina to Alaska - that ran in the $2000-$3000 US range, to ship a car from say California to HI would probably be simular. As far as household items it depends on what one is talking about. As an example clothing- you live in Canada so most of what you own is going to be too warm to wear there, for every day clothes the dress is pretty relaxed and you can find those kind of thinks at the weekly flea market in Hololulu quite inexpensively- if it were me I would sell most of what I have and buy there. The same would probably go for all my other things as well because the shipping is going to add up quickly, every thing goes by air or boat. How fast you want it there will be a factor, to figure a month or 2 if you go the slow cheaper routes (ie its going to go by ship). Also as far as your car goes, once you take it there the salt air gets to it rather quickly, ie if in a few years you decide to leave you probably are going to end up leaving it there or replacing it.

Rj:rolleyes:
