Relocating to GA from SC and I'm not sure where to take the nclex, or transfer lic.

have you taken the NCLEX? If you have, and passed, then you can look at the Ga BON website and they can give you step by step on how to transfer it.

If not, just take it in Atlanta. It will be so much easier and quicker. Just my opinion.

I wanted to work in Alabama when I graduated and ran into this problem... But each state is different and you just have to look at the Ga BON website to see what it says.

If applying by endorsement, the applicant must be licensed as a registered nurse in another jurisdiction and must have graduated from a nursing education program prior to passing a licensing examination recognized by the Board as valid for licensure as a RN. The applicant must submit the following:

A completed application with a fee of $60.
A completed criminal background check.
Provide verification of current RN licensure in another state.
Provide verification of original licensure obtained by NCLEX-RN in another state.
A verification of employment as a RN documenting (3) months or 500 hours of licensed practice as a registered nurse.
Any additional information requested by the Board as needed for licensure.

I would just apply for licensure in GA. You can take your boards anywhere. I graduated in GA, applied for licensure in TX, and took my boards in OK! The problem with getting licensed in another state and then endorsing to GA is that they require 500 hours of paid work experience as an RN before they will license you, or you'll have to go through a program to get those hours. I moved back to GA and had to apply for licensure by endorsement here and was very thankful I had worked full-time out there so I wouldn't have to deal with all of that!

Also, just a word of advice, I don't believe there are a lot of new grad RN jobs available in Atlanta. I work at a hospital in Macon, and we have so many new grads that either commute or move from Atlanta because they can't find jobs there. However, that is just what I have heard, so you may want to ask around a bit. There are many great hospitals around the state that do hire new grads, but if Atlanta is where you want to be, it may be worthwhile to do a bit of research :-)

i just completed a bsn program in oklahoma and moved to georgia. i agree with the previous comments, just apply for boards here in georgia. since i litterally just went through this process (i did not have help from my professors either as they knew nothing about georgia, and i passed the nclex rn saturday here in georgia), if you need any help feel free to email me [email protected]
