Relocating to cleveland to work at the Cleveland Clinic

Hello all!

I just attended the cleveland clinic's nursing now event last week and was offered a job!! I am currently finishing up nursing school in georgia and am very unfamiliar with the area. I will be moving to Cleveland after I graduate in May, and I was wondering if anyone had any advice about where to live, safe areas, where other young employees live, etc.. I'm a 24 year old single female, so I'm starting to get nervous about the big move! I just want to make sure I find a safe, fun area to live.

Congrats on your new job. I also went to the Nurse Now event and picked up an extra PRN job at the Fairview Cleveland Clinic in SICU. I work full time in the next county over. As far as living situations, I am not an expert of Cleveland but you have to decide how "city" you want to be. If location to hospital is what you seek, you will have to pay more to be close. If you prefer the suburbs, you can ride the train in and save on parking. Just watch your timing. Remember this isn't the south. Our weather goes from below zero to above 100. It can rain, snow, and become sunny again before you even get off work. I myself prefer the West Side of Cleveland. It also seems to travel easier. I suggest you take a weekend and spend some time looking at neighborhoods. It only takes me 45min to come from Lagrange Ohio to down town cleveland. So everything is relative to what you feel comfortable living.

Congratulations! There are tons of different living options around here! What campus will you be working at and what kind of environment do you want to live in? (suburban? funky/cool/lots to do?) What kind of things are you into doing outside of work?
