I got my license revoked for diversion 9 years ago. I was struggling at that time of my life and now I have been in recovery for 6 years. I am ready to try to get reinstated in MO. I have already submitted fingerprints and background checks. I am looking at advice from anyone who has gone through this please.

I am in a different state but just want to say good work on your sobriety! Wishing you all the best- you can do it!

Congrats on Sobriety.

Advice 1. Contact the states monitoring program and enroll now so you are calling in daily and drug testing. You can do this before your license is re instated and why is it important? 2 reasons. Because you took the initiative to enroll already the decision for them to reinstate just got easier. They will reinstate. The Board will want you to be monitored for 5 years. That clock starts the day you enter monitoring and does not start the day your license is reinstated. This benefits you. Your 5 year clock can already start and you get it over with.

Advice 2. The Board is going to make you take some kind of nurse refresher course since you haven't practiced in a long time. The state will likely have approved refresher course/clinical rotations at certain locations. Find out where those are by calling the Board or searching the web and enroll now. It's a given you wills have to take one, so you might as well knock it out by at least enrolling or finding cost and location and have a possible start date not long after your license is reinstated.
