Registry, Per Diem or Part Time in NYC

Published

Can anyone tell me what the per diem and registry climate is like in NYC? Are there jobs available? I will be starting Columbia's nurse anesthesia program in June and need 1 or 2 days a week. I am an ICU nurse with 2 years experience and I have my CCRN. Any hospitals or registry companies that you could recommend would be greatly appreciated! Also, what is the going rate for registry/per diem in NYC?

Thanks!

Hi,

Congratulations on being accepted to Columbia's program!

I just retired from full-time nursing and started working for Gotham Per Diem, Inc at the suggestion of a friend. I have been working with them for 10 months and they are wonderful. Everything is easy with them - signing up, communication, and pay. I receive weekly direct deposit and have never had a problem. Their pay rates are very good.

Thank you ! Do they place primarily in the city?

I believe so. I heard they have contracts with the City hospitals (Bellevue, Harlem, etc) but I have been keeping a regular job through them at one hospital so I haven't really seen what they have to offer. I know for sure they have a contract with Continuum. Call them or just go to their office to apply for work. Tell them you were referred by Deborah Tormey. They are located at 75 Maiden Lane (8th floor, I think but the security guard will tell you exactly). Good luck!

NYLady: do you know if they accept nurse w/o experience? Thanks!

I don't know for sure but I don't think so because agency jobs are usually the kind where you are expected to walk in the door and be given a couple of minutes of orientation (where things are located) and then expected to function relatively independently.

Thank You NYLady.

have not worked per diem in the city but did some per diem in Westchester @ SSMC- only 30 min drive from city & they paid $57/hr nights back in 08
