New grad seeking internship

I took my NCLEX on the 17th and found out yesterday that I passed :) All of that hard work and dedication in nursing school paid off! Now I have been busy applying to jobs. I live in Ohio but am willing to move wherever. My questions is does anyone have any suggestions of internships or new grad jobs in which I could apply? I would love to get a paid internship!

I am sorry, what is the difference in a paid internship and taking a job that trains you?

Also, Congratulation!

An internship generally has classroom learning associated with it along with orientation and an extended preceptorship in which the candidate is given a longer period of time before having to take on a full load of patients. Additionally, there are commonly set meetings for review of skills and performance between the preceptor, manager and the candidate so that weak areas/concerns can be swiftly addressed without it being threatening. There seems to be greater communication or at least the outline for greater communication already set into place when a candidate is hired into a formal internship program with structured, extended mentorship. A job with training tends on the average to have a shorter preceptorship time, less education (or at least less formal education) and higher expectations for the new graduate to become more independent in her practice.

Congratulations to the OP on completing NCLEX! The next round of internships for most hospitals will likely start posting in March/April for a June start date. Unfortunately most places in the US are pretty saturated when it comes to new grads and it can take six to 12 months to find coveted first position. Just keep applying, not just at hospitals or for internships, but everywhere. Good luck!
