Hello! :)
I'll be starting my training soon with the American Red Cross and was wondering if anyone else here did too. I'm a bit nervous but very excited.
Did you find the training to be thorough enough?
They also offer CPR and AED training that is included in the classes. Do you also become certified for those things with the course?
I did take another class to become an LNA through my local college but had to leave due to illness more than half way through the program, so I'm triple excited to be getting back. I've heard so many good things about the Red Cross' training.
I'm guessing what I learned in my previous class will be similar (if not the same) to what I learn in this new class in regards to care, safety, infection control and a few other things.
Thank you to anyone who answers.

I did my training with the Red cross. They do have the CPR, AED and first aid included in the training and you will become certified in them....although you will probably not need them if you plan to work in a long term care facility..still good to have! I was also given a uniform as part of the package. :)
I felt I was very well prepared when class was done. As long as you pay attention, do the work and ignore the few that are only there because they are "required" to be, you will be fine.
The Red cross will also be able to tell you if you are eligible to be reimbursed by your state for the classes and what the process is for that!

Hello and thank you so much for answering!
I went to their information session yesterday. I loved what I heard about the program and have decided to pay my tuition in full right away, after my physical tomorrow.
Uniforms are not included in the price, unfortunately, but our text book is.
The standards also seem higher in the Red Cross program. My state sets the minimum requirement for passing all exams at 70%. The Red Cross sets theirs at 80% on all exams.
I am coming from another program from a community college. I didn't get to finish due to illness, but made it all the way to my clinical phase. I was a straight A student there but I'm still nervous about this program.
And what do you mean, "those who are required to be there"? That makes me curious.
