So....I just recently joined the Navy as a Medical Corpsman. My whole reason for joining (besides the good benefits) is to finish up college and become a CRNA. My question is....

Once I finish my A school.....is their a C school made especially for Anesthesia??? If so....would it directly help me get my CRNA? If not, what would be the best plans I could make to achieve getting to my goal as a CRNA?

Thanks alot,

Bryan

Hello and Welcome to allnurses.com

Good to have you here.

I moved your post to a single thread in the Pre-CRNA forum for a better response.

Good luck with your nursing career plans and we hope you enjoy the site.

Actually, a better spot to look for this information is on the military forum. As I understand corpsmen school the answer to a C school r/t directly to anesthesia is no. There is no shortcuts in the Navy or AF to getting into CRNA school. You have to have all the same requirements as civilians +, be an officer, meet Time on station requirements etc, and I believe the Navy even has certain Bio-Chem course they want you take. For more specific infromation go to the military forum and PM LT DAN.

Good Luck!

Well....obviously I can't change that I just joined the Navy. HAHAHA! But what must I do for a CRNA? I just need to get my RN then apply for a CRNA type specialty class? Are there any specialties as a Navy Corpsman that would at least give me some personal experience for anesthesia if not any real credible experience? Anyone have any suggestions of exciting Corpsman C schools?

First step is getting your BSN. You will need to work ICU for 1 year before you can get into the program, so you will need to achieve the goal of that assignment. I worked for the Army & know they have a program in San Antonio, but don't know about other branches. Good luck!
