Recent Experiences w/ Purrfect and/or APHTC???

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

Hi! I've seen this briefly mentioned before, but as it's 2013, I was wondering if anyone has any recent (like w/in the last yr) experiences w/ Purrfect Nursing and/or APHTC in Las Vegas? I believe that they are the only 2 "accelerated" cna programs in the area?

All pros/cons are welcome..Also, how well prepared do you fell that you were after completing the program?

Thanks!:)

I didn't know of any other CNA program other than Purrfect & CSN. Now CSN did (or still does) have a shortened program over the Summer term. A person I had worked with attended Purrfect. They seemed to like it and had no problem getting certified. I prefered CSN just from dealing with the school in the past. I think you really can't go wrong either way (again these are the only two I knew of) and will be fine.

Thanks! That's the way I was leaning

I had a great experience with APHTC in Las Vegas. The instructor, -------^, is a joy to be around and she knows her stuff. She is very fun to listen to (her lectures are hilarious and also very informative) and she really encourages participation. I sat in the front row, which for me -- I believe, helps a lot. When you aren't constantly looking around at the rest of the class, you can focus all of your attention on the material and being involved. They take a maximum of 15 students at 1 time which is really nice. The course was only 5 weeks and that includes CPR/BLS certification. I felt I was well-prepared for the state board exam but you definitely need to listen and maybe even take notes. --------------- and ---------- were great to work with as well. Everyone was very sweet and helpful. Their pricing is fair and they also offer a nice payment plan. The clinical experience is all day for 7 days straight so you really learn and soak in a lot. I would reccommend APHTC for anyone considering CNA certification --- it's good, quick, and cheaper than some others I've seen. Hope this helps! :)

Thank you SO much! I need to be able to focus & do a shorter termed CNA course so that I can (hopefully) start working shortly after that w/out a big gap.

A couple of questions if you don't mind...........

1. Did you do their day or evening classes?

2. How long did it take you to find a job after finishing the course (if you don't mind me asking)?

Thanks a bunch!:D

I'm so sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you! I totally forgot to check back until now. I did their day classes. I actually just got a job at the beginning of July but I didn't start looking until June so it really didn't take me that long. There are so many places that say "must have experience" that job hunting is hard, but there are definitely some that are fine with hiring newbies. If I could give you any advice, really dive in as much as you can on Clinical week! Even though they only do 7 days of clinicals, it is very valuable if you pay attention and put in 100% effort! Although every facility is different, the main components of the job are the same I think. Also, get your fingerprinting and Nevada State Board of Nursing Application in as soon as possible after class starts. Hopefully by now you have started :) Good luck!

Hi! No prob 4 the late response, I really do appreciate your input, it makes a big difference to me. I feel empowered.

Thanks:D
