I am recently retired, 54, and want to go to private college (so no waiting) for LVN degree. I have wanted to be a nurse all my life (medical transcriber for 30 years while kids growing up) and now have the time to pursue but need to work soon. Are there any new LVN's that went to ACC, Concorde or other colleges in Orange/LA County that have found jobs and if so, what type or how long did it take? I don't have the time or money to put into LVN if I can't work but want to be a nurse more thany anything and think this is the best and quickest way to start, as at 54 I don't have all the time in the world to do pre-req's and wait to get into nrsg school for 2 years. By that time I won't have as many years left to work and would rather work as LVN and then go to bridge program LVN/RN. I have been so excited to start program and feel like one of my life's dreams is coming true but don't want to be unrealistic about job market.

I attained my LVN training from Casa Loma College at their Van Nuys campus in late 2005, and had to move out of the state to land a job.
