They all seem to be only for elder care. I need a visiting nurse for a 20 year old with Bipolar Disorder, to dispense meds. Can anyone recomend any home visiting nurse organisations that can have psych nurse visits to dispense meds? I cant find anything in the yellow pages.

Contact your local chapter of NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill) and ask for recommendations.

You might want to try the Center for Independent Living in Berkely, CA--they tend to have a real good resource list.
Thanks, I will check. I've seen their place on Telegraph but theres always wheelchairs outside: so I assumed they were for physical disabilities.
As for NAMI, surprisingly they have not had any suggestions for this. I have for years asked at all my groups, I belong to 3 support groups for family members. Asked at the county hospital, asked his methadone clinic, asked his county clinic. No one has had any experience of this except one woman form Sonoma who had a social worker who offered to do it for her daughter.
This is such a common problem. If anyone wanted to start a business, this would be a huge need, that just does not seem to be met.
My best bet seems to be to get that $750 meds monitor device robot thing that intones "time to take your meds" and shoots out the cup with the meds, if it is not picked up it calls my cellphone to warn me my son has not taken his meds. Of course he could fill it with the other pills I dont want him to take (he is dual diagnosis), or he could pick up the cup and toss it in the garbage!:angryfire Why is there no help for this simple and common need?
