Really???

I went on vacation for nine days and you would think I have never started an IV before! Anyone ever been gone from work and came back and forgot your skills. I am the person they call for difficult sticks and I never miss...kids or adults chronic to healthy but this week? I couldnt put a 24 in a rope!

I was amazed at what a roll I was on after returning from 3 weeks off. My IV skills were sharper than ever. I was getting spiderweb thin, tortuous, scarred, friable veins on the first try. I thought I was hot stuff! But a few weeks later, I went into a slump, where I couldn't even hit the juiciest fire hoses! It was so humbling. You never know when your IV skills will wax or wane. Yours will come back, just give it time and don't let it get you down.

maybe because your mind is still on vacation..sometimes it takes a few days to come back to the real world lol.happens to me all the time.

in answer to your question, yes it occurs more often that some care to admit, this is the reason we look forward to our next vacation. and it's obvious that you had a great time on your vacation which i glad,it is natural to find it a bit difficult to get back into the swing of things. however, don't despair this is the good about nursing, it's like riding a bike it comes back to you in no time, just take a deep breath and dive into it :D
