really really nervous

Published

I'm currently doing my pre-req. I have a 4. so far, but for some reason I'm soooo nervous about nursing school! Did any of you question yourself constantly? I know I'm capable of learning the material, I study well, but I'm afraid of the actual hands on situations. Anyone else feel that way before school started? I start in August. Thanks! ps...I'm 38 with 4 sons ages 20, 19, 17, and 16...starting a little late in life

Boy, we all share so many things. Non-trad students with good grades/work habits but worried about clinicals. I am in that boat, definitely. I read some posts in the General Discussion area about new grads that can't seem to do the procedures right and I get so worried - will that be me?

It really burns me up to hear things like this from nurses but hey, we all have a right to our opinions!! It is sad they can't step back and remember they were new and not steady once. That they most likely forgot out to do a procedure because they were nervous and new too.!

Don't fret so much about clinicals guys!! You aren't supposed to know what you are doing and you are supposed to be nervous and scared. That is what your instructors are there for. They expect you to be that way!!

We have a lab where we can go practice on dummies(no, not our husbands;) ). If you are going to get checked off on a skill then go to the lab and write down step by step directions and then practice at home!!

Good luck to all!!
