Really, this is the dumbest question ever, but...

Everyone assumes that we know how to call a code. Instructors, both in theory and in clinical, the other nurses on the floor, classmates - but I have NO idea. So help me out so that I don't have to make a fool of myself and ask at clinical. How do you call a code?

we push a button on the wall. The operator gets a message which bed it relates to. No talking. Push and then start compressions. It only takes a few minutes for help to arrive. Other codes are telephoned to operator who makes overhead announcement. At the very least, YELL for someone to bring crash cart.

At the last hospital I had clinicals at, one of the nurses told a fellow student "if in doubt, pull the call light cord out of the wall, that will get you help in a hurry"... I'm not exactly sure what that does, but I remember it!

At our joint, we can page overhead. Just pick up the phone and state, "Code blue, {location}, code blue, {location}"

Yelling works but rather than yell, "help," yell "code blue"... otherwise, they will come running but they probably won't be pushing the crash cart until they see what's up.
