Realistic salary for an LPN?

What salary can you expect to make once you graduate as an LPN? I'm asking this because I went to school to be a Dental Assistant & we were told we would start out making between $11-12 an hour..I've been offered as low as $8.50 an hour. I just want to know what to expect if I decide to go to school to be an LPN. I know it differs from state to state. I live in PA by the way. I wish thinking I would start out at least $13 an hr.

Florida-private duty nursing-$15 an hour.:crying2:

Florida some places may try o offer you $15 but everybody knows the starting point is no less than $18. You tell them you won't take $15 they have to pay right because everybody else work for no less than $18

Nobody knows for Atlanta, what's the pay rate here?

Specializes in TRAC UNIT, REHAB, DEMENTIA...ETC.
$13? Wow thats low well im in texas and where i werk starts lvns off at $21 full time $24 prn buh ive workd where some start off at $13

i meant some starr off ar $18

I do know that my boyfriend's ex worked as an LPN for the Children's Institute & they started her out at $13 an hr but this was 5-6 yrs ago so I'm sure the pay has increased since then. None of the hospitals around here hire for lpn's anymore which really sucks cause it seems your only option is a nursing home...they start u out anywhere between $16-$20 an hr

leelee..my cousins girlfriend works in a nursing home and she started out at $16/hr

Believe me i dont want to work at a nursing home but if it gets you a job in the beginning its worth it. You can always look for something else while working at a nursing home. thats my plan if i cannot find a job in a different setting ha

Yeah, I agree 100%. At least it will get us experience & good money.
