Ready to graduate.

Hello, I am ready to graduate from a RN program. I have heard through other new grads and nursing staff that one should find a mentor for the first year post graduation. I am wondering if any senior nurse's may have any advise for a new grad? Do you recommend that a new grad go with a hospital with a extensive internship program?

What would be the best field for a new grad to start?

I have a interest in Emergency med, but, I have heard the ED nurses get really burnt out quickly. L&D is of interest too, but, I am just freaked out going into L&D as a new grad. So many decisions, I just want to make the best one. Some advise please?
