Ready for Change and Need Feedback

Nurses Career Support

Published

Dear Fellow RNs,

I have been a RN for over 25 years. Life is inviting me to change as I age. Those concrete floors are a killer!! I would like to use my skills at home in my heated, vibrating comfortable office chair. Smile. I want help in finding the right fit for my skills. I want to do counseling or coaching about wellness, or case manage. I want still to interact with patients by telemed. I sure hope on this site to find contacts. I have been surfing the web and oh my gosh there are lots of sites and it is overwhelming to know what is a good company etc... I have had long history with my employers so really in twenty five years have only had 2 employers. I have not redone my resume yet as still in the looking stages. Please fellow caring nurses help this ole gal walk through this next stage of life to a new branch of nursing. I am open to other suggestions too if others have gotten older and wanted off their feet! Smile.

God bless and hope to hear soon.

Hugs

Have you made a firm decision that you definitely want to leave your current employer? Sure, the idea of working at home from your "heated, vibrating comfortable office chair" sounds great, but, if you have a long, positive relationship with your current employer, have you looked at what other nursing opportunities might be available for you there? Seems to me it might be easier to move within your current organization than to get hired by a new outfit, esp. in the current economic and employment climate. (Maybe you could bring your chair from home in to your new office. :D) Also, what is your educational preparation? Diploma, ADN, BSN, other? What is your clinical specialty? Those things could make a significant difference in what kind of jobs you will be considered qualified for.

Best wishes for your journey!
