I'm waiting to hear if I'll be starting Sentara's RN program in August. Has anyone gotten letters for any of thier programs yet?

I'm planing on attending sentara in august also. I applied in Jan but failed or better yet didn't finish the math portion on my test so I got to take it over. My friend applied around the same time that I did and got her acceptance letter almost immediately after.

I'm still here patiently waiting. I'm starting to think maybe I should've applied earlier (I hope they have seats left). I hope you did well on the math portion when you took it over. I will keep my fingers crossed for both of us!

Yeah, I hope they don't look at me like I'm stupid b/c it's not like I can't do the math(I got an A in college math and B in statistics) it's just that I underestimated the test thinking that that's middle school math. When I was there, it took me a long time to try to remember how to do that old math without a calculator and I took too long(you only get 2 hours to finish the math and reading). The lady said that she knows that I can pass and said that my grades were good. I should have been retaken my test but the lady forgot to tell me that I was suppose to call to retake it. My stupid butt was sitting at home, checking the mailbox for weeks untill I finally called to ask why I didn't recieve anything yet. By the way, I'm taking it next thurs (3/30 @ 2pm) and hope that I didn't wait too long. The lady said that they don't make the full list until after the deadline which is april 1st.

So what was your grades like? I'm nervous b/c I made about A's and B's in everthing besides A&P and bacteriology which I got C's in. I'm nervous b/c it seems like most people up here be getting A's in A&P. I probably would have been able to make grades like theirs if I didn't have a newborn baby, full-time job, and full-time course load.

Congratulations on your baby! (I love babies)LOL. You have a lot going on, you should be proud of maintaining those grades. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on Thursday. As far as what they told me they take 80-100 people per class? I think we have a very good chance of getting in. My grades are good, I have a 4.0 so far, and pulling As in Micro and APII so far this semester (I don't have any children though, and my husband is over seas right now, so I have lots of study time on my hands). I took the test last Thursday and I can't stand the wait. I called Michelle's number and got a voicemail saying that she's out of the office from Mar. 20-27th, so she probably hasn't even looked at my app yet. It seems that they are sending out acceptance letters as they review the applications, at least we don't have to wait til May or June to find out like some others on here. I hope to hear from you soon!

Thanks, hopefully we will both will get in and be study buddies. I hope Michelle still like me b/c when I called up there to figure out why I didn't get a response from them, she kinda got an attitude with me even though it was not my fault that I wasn't told that I was responsible for making an appointment to retake the hobnet. What school do you go to? I'm at ODU and I wished that I could make the grades that you made. We have a quiz on the kidney about what part secrete what and why next week and then we will start the reproductive system. The questions are so technical and intense for me. I got a C in bacteriology b/c my teach couldn't teach and using the textbook was worthless.(I wished I could get my money back for that darn book!) Well it is so nice to finally talk to somebody that is going through the same thing that you are. Talk to ya later!!

I go to TCC Va Beach. I have had a good experience with my teachers so far. Of course, I use ratemyprofessors.com to choose my classes:lol2:. I pick the teachers that others say are helpful, teach well, willing to answer questions etc. so that's probably why I've been so fortunate (love that site). We haven't done endocrine in AP lecture yet, only in lab. I think we start endocrine this coming week, and then reproductive. I wouldn't worry too much about Michelle, I doubt she can not accept somone for a stupid little thing like that, besides I doubt she is the one and only judge and jury on applications. OK, Greys anatomy is on.....Gotta go!

Wow, I never thought about choosing my teacher by using a website, I just choose them if it fits with my schdule. Anyways, are you going to quit your job when you start nursing school since we are going to be there from like 8 to 4? I sure know that I am. I'm also putting my son in daycare(boy I'm going to be ballin' tears when I drop him off) I'm going to work my butt off this summer so that I can pay my car note!! Have you considered any other schools besides Sentara? I also applied to Medical Careers Institue. I gave them a $100 deposit in Feb. I am torn between Sentara and MCI b/c MCI offers a degree and is 15 months long but it cost 27,000. Sentara is more establish, has a diploma program and is 22 months but it costs around 10,000. I will probably go to Sentara if they accept me b/c all the hospitals in our area are Sentara and it seems more established. (yeah I know, I wasted a $100 but you win some and lose some!) Nice talking to ya!!

Actually, I stopped working in January to concentrate on school. I used to be in the military,so I'm using my GI bill to pay for school. I considered Tcc's program but decided against applying because they don't have as much clinical hours as Sentara, also the program is in Portsmouth ( who wants to fight with the tunnel every day!). I don't know anything about MCI's program, except that its (RN) program is new. I plan on RN-BSN thru VCU, so the associates degress is not really a selling point for me. I don't think that its a waste of $100 for the MCI deposit. My philosophy is go with the program you get into and that you like.

you are right, I'm going to go to sentara if they accept me b/c i think that MCI will be too fast past for me. I will need the extra clinical hours for experience and it will give me the confidence that I can work efficiently.
