Re-locating to Denver and would like some info on Denver Childrens...esp. the NICU!

Hi,

I am going to be relocating to Denver next year and have heard such great things about Denver Childrens. I have also been reading on recent posts that jobs right now could be scarce so I am a little concerned. I will definitely be applying to Childrens and I was wondering what the atmosphere/work environment is like and also is there a good mix of experience levels? I have my BSN and 4 years experience in a Boston teaching hospital level III NICU with ECMO. I was also wondering if 4 years is too little NICU experience regardless of my actual experience to be considered for the Childrens NICU...any insight? Also if anyone could let me know any details about other NICU's in the area that would be great! I would really love to stay in a level III NICU if it's possible. Thanks in advance!

Right next door to Children's is UCH (University of CO), and they also have a NICU, although not as high acuity as Children's. I work at UCH, so don't have a lot of insight for you on Children's, sorry, although I've heard it's a great facility. I'm pretty sure the NICU at UCH is III - they have vents and such. For really high acuity stuff (like a cooling cap, to draw from a recent experience), they will transfer them next door to Children's.

As long as you have at least a few years' experience, you probably won't have too hard of a time finding a job.

We just relocated to Denver last month, and we LOVE it here! Hopefully you will too.
