Re-entering nursing

I'm getting ready to re-enter nursing after several years out. After getting my degree, I worked for a couple years and then left for personal reasons (taking care of dying mother, helping husband in his business, then taking care of him when he became terminal). He's now passed and I'm ready to get back into the work force. How do I account for all this on a resume without it hurting my chances of finding employment. I am taking a refresher course (no clinical time) even though my license is still current. Thanks!
