I passed the FNP exam by AANP in Feb 2012. I used the APEA test and was scoring about 63-68 %. I also used the Claiborne and Zywerth test averaging in the mid to low 70's. I also listened to Fitzgerald and used the Leik book. You are prepared. Just use the information you have gained to pass the test. Good Luck.
Hey Duckfan, I think you will be fine. The AANP exam doesn't have any theory or ethical questions, all clinical so you should be fine. From what I hear the Fitzgerald program sufficiently prepares you. They do suggest knowing all your heart murmurs and assessment area for the heart. Diabetic meds and respiratory meds. I have a friend that took the exam and that is what she told me. I plan to take it in May, so log back on and let me know how you did and how it was please. I pray you pass :). And you will, just have faith and take deep breaths. You can do it!
Just wanted to update everyone-PASSED AANP ANP Today! Well, that's the preliminary. I am hoping that AANP doesn't send me a letter to the contrary! What would I say was the most effective study guide? Probably Leik. And doing the apea.com exams-which are much more difficult than the exam itself. Sooooooo relieved. The weight of the world, off my shoulders! :) If I can do it, anyone can!

Okay, I know a lot of people have been chatting about this under similar topics, but I am hoping someone will respond to this one (or please DM-message me on my acct). I am taking the ANP exam on 3/22 through AANP; I have gone to a review course thru Fitzgerald in January, been using her review book for a long time, and just got the Leik book. I also signed up for the tests on apea.com-I am averaging, at best, 63% on the mock exams. I am so discouraged and overwhelmed, I have a hard time staying optimistic that I will pass. A lot of the mock exam questions were on HIV, types of research studies, ethical questions, and evaluation of meds/lab results (ie, when to have someone return, and what test to run, etc). I got STRAIGHT A's in my program. I am feeling pretty stupid right now, and mortified to take the exam. Yep, always had test anxiety. Any advice? Tips? Is the test as hard as the apea.com exam questions are? I found the Leik book test questions I got through rather smoothly.
Any advice, encouragement, or experience will help a TON. Thanks in advance....wish me luck. I am truly going to need a bunch of it.
