Rasmussen or not?

Published

Hello there, I am currently looking into nursing programs here in Minnesota. I went to the Rasmussen College information session and the LPN program seemed fairly straight forward and they said their job placement was 92%. I have worked in a research for the past 10 years and was recently let go from my job. I am looking to change my career path, but I already have a Bachelor's of Science and a Master's in Public Health in Epidemiology. The reason I chose nursing is because I have always cared for people and have worked in group homes taking care of people with developmental and physical disabilities. Yes, it is not all glamorous and hard work, but I feel very satisfied doing that work. Any suggestion and review on Rasmussen, or should I try a community college. All of my generals will transfer so the program won't take as long. Thanks. :)

Anyone attending the Rasmussen for Nursing in Tampa/Brandon campus? How do you like it? They have a program that starts October 1st 2018. I am considering attending there.

18 months including prereqs?

As a current nursing student at Rasmussen Ft Myers, FL, I'm very frustrated right now. Imagine retaking a class for 0.5 point. Imagine having to repay $3000 dollars for 0.5 point!!! If you have to work, this is not the school for you. They should take into account that most of their students are working adults with bills to pay, who often have to pay out of pocket or who are not eligible for financial aid... All they care about is their bottom line. This is not surprising after all they're for profit. We are a group of about 12 or so who failed for 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 or 1 point we went all the way up to VP with no success. The Dean of the Ft Myers campus, Deanna Wolfskeil can be your worst nightmare as a student. In case you guys don't know, this school grading method is made to trap you: 1- NO ROUDING UP! 77.99999999 is 77 SAY WHAT!? Which school would fail a student for 0.000001, 0.25 or 0.5!!!?? To my knowledge I only one: Rasmussen College. 2- grades are: A (94-100), B (85-93), C (78-84) and F (0-77.9999). Now let's take a look back, notice there is no A+, A-, B+, B- so on and so fourth... This is where the trap is, by doing so Rasmussen basically forces you to stay if you failed a class like pharm which you could transfer to another school had you gotten a C (75-77).

Now my graduation is pushed back 03/19. I blame myself so much for not taking into account all the bad reviews I read about Rasmussen before enrolling.

I can certainly understand your frustration with the grading system.

However, other than your frustration with the grading, how is the program overall?
