"Workforce Oklahoma" experiences?

Anyone used them to help pay for your nursing or medical assistant education? I am trying to find out what their income requirements are. They won't tell me over the phone and require me to come down for a full day of interviewing which would mean I would need to shell out $60 for day care. I would do it if I thought it would be worth it, but not sure what the qualifications are.

Thanks!

How interesting. I am having the same experience. I talked to them about 2 months ago, and finally did get the income guidelines out of them. Then they told me I needed to come to an all day orientation thing. Well, I called them about a month later, and told them I needed more specifics because of having to get child care for the day. I was very clear that I needed to know about the program, and got no where. I really want to know more about the program, because I need money for nursing school, and my family meets the income requirement they gave me.

By the way, I am a student at Langston, Tulsa campus.

Specializes in Adolescent Psych, PICU.

I'm in OKC as well and have been wondering the same thing. I don't think I am going to apply just because they are not specific enough and I don't have time to spend my day down there! I have kids as well so I understand.

Plus part if it is you have to work for a hospital to kinda pay back the money they get you and I'm not sure how much choice you have in that--which is hospitals are they? Do you all know anything about that?

Some of the schools have nursing scholarships, some will do a tuition waiver (I think they start with the 4.0 GPAs and work down--I know Rose State does, OSU-OKC, OCCC), some of the hospitals will do a contract with you if you work for them in return (that is what I am going to have to do).

During your first week or so of nursing school or even during orientation they should go over all these options with you. Once your accepted and attending the program they are NOT going to want you to drop out, that is too much of a loss for them financially, and they can't refill the empty seat so they are going to help you find financial resources. My school (UCO) talks about that a lot.
