Hi. Im a new member here and I really want to pursue a nursing course soon. Im just wondering if what certification, or is there any certification or education required in order to take or become a Registered Nurse. Please help!!

Education??? :confused: I'd say just a little. I'm being sarcastic....BUT GOSH YES, we're very highly educated!!!!! You'll see!

ok i really dont think we need to be rude. I know there are alot of people who still think people who are an LPN/LVN dont have hardly any education! Or they dont think we are "real" nurses!

To the poster of the question. Yes nurses have education requirements. Depending on what your ultimate goal is, an LPN usually takes a vocational or tech school and the programs last from 12-18 months. Then you have to sit for the NCLEX-PN and pass (state-test to get your licesnse issued to you) in order to practice nursing.

RN's or registered nurses go through more schooling than an LPN or LVN...you can get an associates, or bach. by going to either a 2 yr or 4 yr program respectively. They also sit for an NCLEX-RN test and must pass to obtain a license.

Then there are a varing amount of extra certifications/speicilzations to choose from after you are licensed/registered.
