Hi,I would like to know about "French 30" cycle relating to the autoclave for steam sterilization.

There is not much materials about "French 30" cycle in Japan unfortunately:o , Can anybody explain to me what it is.

Is it possible this is a misunderstanding?

A 30 minute autoclave cycle on fast exhaust would be used for sterilizing dry materials, while slow exhaust would be used for liquids (so that they do not boil over or splatter all over the inside of the autoclave).

The cycle time is the time the autoclave is up to temperature and pressure (119-121 degrees C and about 15 psi). This does not include time needed to heat up and cool down. The length of the cycle depends upon the load, with bigger loads requiring more time. Some media are only autoclaved for 12-15 minutes, with total time limited to 45 minutes, in order to avoid chemical breakdown of the media. Preheating of the autoclave may be needed in order to keep total time within the 45 minute limit.
