I need some help with tips on being more time efficient without losing the caring touch....I work mostly home care but in clinical we need to do so much more and when we leave, we have to go...last week, my chart was out in the docs hands it seemed the whole time and one of pts was in isolation so I was kind of paranoid about leaving the room and coming back and bringing things into the room etc...looking back I wasted a lot of time, I didnt get the vitals charted and I ended up leaving and had to leave them with the nurse instead of recording them myself. I didnt look good and my instructor didnt look good. I have been worried about it all week. I know I am obsessing but I need to go back this week and SHINE! when our instructor leaves, we have to leave, if this was my job, I would have stayed until everything was done and charted etc but this is the way it is so I have to adjust. I need to learn so better ways to manage my time. I often find these pts havent been changed and need a lot of personal care. I dont want to just let it go and be like everyone else but perhaps I do too much...? Another thing...I am not good at cutting people off - people open up to me, I am a real talker but it really gets people to open up to me yet it it is probably wasting time too....please help me so that I dont feel like I am hurting peoples feelings. I always get such compliments from people, how i made them feel better, how caring I am, how no one listened to them until I came in, or got them the information they needed etc....now yes, I am sure a lot is because as students we have way more time and that is another thing that worries me, if I hope to get a hospital job, I need to be able to function in this environment properly...?
Please help!!
