I cant find why ear drops are not recommended for infants under 12 months, any ideas?
I was thinking because of the ear structure as its not 100% formed, but not sure.
Thanks

I'm not aware that you can't give ear drops to an infant. Is there a specific ear drop to which you're referring? here's one example that specifically discusses usage in an infant. http://www.rxlist.com/pediotic-drug.htm#
Otorhea is the term for drainage from the ear. I'm not sure what it is for bleeding, if it's different.

In general, you can give ear drops to children under 1 year,. Was there a specific medication you are referring too?
Its in my study notes, it doesnt say what types of meds. The question says:
octic preps for children are not generally recommended for infants under 12 mnths of age because?
Let me know when you find out. Never heard of such a thing.
