Your Favorite one liner used with patients
When I start a blood transfusion on my patients I tell them its only a loan and we'l slowly take it back. Ive also told a few patients who needed to be switched to different wards its because they didnt pay their rent. Makes them smile everytime :)

wanting to work in the states but dont know how to start organising self.
Hi everyone!! Hope you all are well! Im a RN in Australia and was wondering what nursing is like in the states? Whats the patient load?, the type of hours?, the ward politics? and do different hospitals pay you different? Im thinking of completing my masters and heading off to the states to work but Im not sure what to expect. For example, if you want to climb the ladder here you need to have a good networks of people, its not what you know but who you know, is it the same there?? I really want to make this change, its just I dont know where to start researching! Thanks :)

Dont want to be a nurse anymore due to the politics and lack of support
Hi everyone, Lately I feel not supported at work, the mangers have kept me with the same patients for three weeks now, they have changed my roster and got rid of all my weekend work (no penalities) and the skill mix for my next shift is crap, I mean Im an RN2 and Im the most senior on in an heamatology and oncology ward, now if they put me on as team leader Il decline as I have not done the course they promised to send me a year ago (thats because they havent applied me in yet). I always do them favours but I think I'l stop now. Another thing, the lack of support is reflecting bad on me and causing me to be depressed. I feel like I dont want to be a nurse anymore. So, I have a question, can I do anything else with nursing, Im in australia so things might be abit different other places and I just finished my masters of nursing, so what could I study thats health related and I still help patients (no medical school for me lol) Thanks guys, I just really feel down and dont want to go to work anymore which is a new feeling, Ive always loved my job.

ideas?
hey guys! Hope everyone is well, Im thinking of doing my masters in nursing, however Im not sure where I will go with it, I mean can I apply to work as a NUM or an educator? Or should I get my diploma in nursing first? I just finished my bachelors degree in nursing but I want more, any ideas? I love nursing, its just the gossiping/ rude staff get to me and make it even more stressful then it already is!

Im such a fool!!
Im a new RN, I just finished nursing school... Unfortunatly I made my first medication error today, this after 3 weeks of being on the job. I (with another nurse) checked platlets to give to a patient. It was the right patient, right blood type and everything, but wrong order and none of us noticed because we were checking from the chart blood bank sent with the blood. The blood bank themselves made the error of sending us platlets instead of red blood cells. When I found out I felt like I wa sgoing to puke! All I said was 'what happened to the patient?' Ive been crying ever since I got home which was almost 3hrs ago! I was just checking with another nurse, she should have known if it was the right order, but then again Im not one to judge or say anything... Im scared about seeing the boss of the ward tomorrow (I dont know what to do or say!!)... Thankfully nothing happened to the patient as they were her own platlets, but today just really put me off nursing, I love helping patients and all, but I dont want to come home crying and worried every day.
