Quick Question r/t Air Force

Hi all,

I am a RN (BSN) I have 3yrs of ICU experience in a Level 1 trauma hospital, and I am currently working in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit, where I have been for almost a year. I am also currently enrolled in grad school and working toward a MSN in Health Systems Management with a minor in business. I am really interested in the Airforce once I finish my MSN. I guess my question is.....What would my rank possibly be? and does anyone know if my current grad degree that I am aiming for is useful in the AF or do i need to consider a major change. Any responses will be greatly apprectiated. Thanks in advance!:D

Sidenote: It will be awhile before i am able to apply, as I am working toward the weight goal. Started @ 298lbs when I first became interested, and i am now at 258lbs.:lol2: I am workling really hard, as I really want this.

Specializes in Anesthesia.

An MSN will get you 1Lt. By the time you get all your paperwork done etc you should have enough experience to come in as Capt as long as you have your MSN.

No, the AF doesn't have a specific field for someone with an MSN in health systems management. An MSN in the military is going to be pretty common, if you are going to want to do something specifically with your MSN in the military it should be as an APN or CNS.
