Hi,
I have a quick question...you know how if your an RN and you work nights you get a shift differential...same as if you work the weekend right?
So if you work the weekend AND work at night do you get BOTH shift differentials?
Hypothetically for example, say its 2$ for weekends and 4$ for nights. So if you work Saturday and Sunday 7pm to 7am would that mean you would get 6$ extra an hour on top of your base pay?
Thanks for answering (sorry if its a stupid question)

At the hospital that I work at, yes, we do get both differentials.:)
So getting both shift differentials is applicable to mostly every hospital right? SWEET!!!! :monkeydance: Id rather work weekend nights than work 5 days a week when I graduate. You get paid alot more money, work less hours in total and I am a night owl already so it's not like im missing much anyway.

At my hospital, we get both.
Yes, I like working weekend nights. Since that is also the most understaffed shift, I usually get callback diff or critical need diff as well! :)

At the first hospital I worked at there was no weekend diff (non-union facility) at the new hospital (union facility) I will be starting at there is a weekend diff and you would get both night shift and weekend diff but if you choose to work every weekend you waive your weekend diff.

Okay, that's crazy that you lose weekend diff if you want to work every weekend. You are filling a needed position that most hospitals have a hard time filling--hence the shift diff--and you get penalized for desiring to work all weekends. Crazy! Just crazy!
